This work is hailed as one of the most important scientific Greek historical studies from the fall of Byzantium (1453) until the beginning of the 19th century. This book by priest, scholar and writer, Ieronymos Myriantheus (1838-1898), concerns the origins of the ancient Cypriots. His book was banned in Cyprus by the Ottoman authorities and many copies were burned. Because of this work, the Ottoman administration refused to recognize Myriantheus as Bishop of Kyrenia.; Ιερώνυμος Μυριανθεύς (1838-1898), κληρικός, λόγιος και συγγραφέας. Λόγω του βιβλίου του οι αρχές αρνήθηκαν να αναγνωρίσουν την εκλογή του ως επίσκοπος Κυρηνείας.
